ABOUT
This is my story. When I was little my grandma would come over and visit me. She would bring her sewing and I would sit with her and sew and ask her questions about sewing. She was a nurse in the Army in WWII. When she got out she married my grandpa and lived on their dairy farm. She would fix the farmer's jeans in the area. When the jeans were too far gone she would cut out denim squares and make a blanket.
I grew up and joined the Navy Seabees. I was deployed to Falujah, Iraq in 2005 for 7 months. While I was there, the band Rascal Flatts came and did a U.S.O. tour for the troops. There were about 300 of us there. There were guns everywhere, of all kinds. And there were Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines there all together singing "Mayberry". We were a dancing, moving sea of camouflage. After the concert, I remembered the blanket that my grandma made out of farmers jeans and thought if I ever get home from here, I want to make an American Flag Blanket out of soldiers uniforms from all the branches of the military to represent all the branches serving America. So I did.
